On Wednesday, August 22, 2018, we went back to Rongai to do a follow up on the various hospitals we visited on August 15, 2018. We managed to go to the six hospitals we had visited last week (i.e., August 15 2018); The Karen Hospital, Agha Khan Hospital, Hope Care Medical Centre, Mariakani Hospital, Garlands Medical Centre and Nairobi Women’s Hospital plus two more hospitals we had not visited; Gertrude’s Children hospital and Meds Medical Centre. We were following up reminding doctors about the Ubrica Global Journal System and the Clinical Proceedings from Hospitals of Kenya where clinical works emerging from hospitals in Kenya are published.
The response this time was also positive although it was much more harder seeing the doctors who were very busy and most of them had attended medical camp. In Karen Hospital, we learnt that we needed an appointment to talk to the doctors on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In Gertrude’s Children Hospital, we learnt that we needed a letter from the main branch in Muthaiga to allow us to talk to the doctors.
The main challenge we faced this time was we were unable to meet most doctors due to lack of appointments but those who managed to spare us a few minutes were very positive and were willing to submit their work. We also got positive feedback from the nurses who were also willing to submit their work.
We decided to start attending grand-rounds so as to reach and talk to large number of doctors and also reach out to medical students.
