Health Facility Design in Africa Lecture Series
Design of the Thompson & Grace Medical City in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria
Isaac Thompson Amos, managing director and chief executive, Thompson & Grace Pharmaceuticals Limited, and Macharia Waruingi, chief executive officer of the Ustawi Biomedical Research, Innovation and Industrial Centers of Africa, Inc. will present “Design of the Thompson & Grace Medical City in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria,”, Friday, Oct. 16 in Langford C105.
Also presenting will be faculty members who led or assisted with a 2015 design studio at Texas A&M in which students created design concepts for the city: Forster Ndubisi, head of the Department of Architecture & Urban Planning; Chanam Lee, associate professor of landscape architecture; Zhipeng Lu, architecture lecturer, and George J. Mann, professor of architecture and the Ronald L. Skaggs, FAIA Endowed Professor of Health Facilities Design. Dan Luhrs, associate principal and senior vice president of HKS Inc. will also discuss the medical city project.
